The application has many functions, access to which is controlled by the current capability. There are four capability levels:
- Capability: View Allows device information to be viewed but not modified.
- Capability: Operate Allows normal parameters to be modifed. Connections cannot be modified.
- Capability: Engineer Allows configuration parameters and connections to be modified. Allows device and system information to be imported and exported.
- Capability: Administrate Allows full access to all parameters and connections. Allows network addresses to be set. Allows passwords to be modified.
Note that functions which are disabled because the current capability is too low may be "grayed out" or may not appear at all.
When the application is launched, it requests a password which sets the initial capability. Note that passwords are case-sensitive.
The current capability is shown in the 'File' menu and may be changed from there; a password is required to increase the capability.
Care should be taken when choosing and controlling passwords. Misuse of the application may lead to network failure, machine damage, injury and death.
WARNING: Application passwords provide only limited security and must not be relied upon to protect property or personnel.
